Please meet the amazing foster kids we sponsor through Childreach:
Margarita ~ Bolivia
Margarita is a sweet girl who is nine years old
and lives in a remote village in Bolivia.
The letters from these children are written in their native language, then translated
into English and forwarded to us by Childreach staff -- even so, the personalities
of these children still really shine through.
|
Childreach sent me this new photo of Margarita in June. In this photo she is wearing
the little microfleece sweatshirt I sent her - and I can see that next time I need
to send a smaller size! So for those of you wondering if the kids actually get the
gifts that you send to them - they sure do! Along with the photo was a thank-you note from Margarita! Since receiving this packet
I've received several more letters from Margarita, one with a drawing she did herself.
|
| Latest update: I just received updated photos of Margarita (Feb. '05) and an updated report on what
Childreach is doing in Margarita's community. |

ISSA ~ Cameroon Issa lives in a small village in Cameroon. He is six years old, just about the same age
as my own son. In a letter Issa wrote me last spring, he reported (with the writing help of a neighbor) that Childreach brought mosquito nets to his village. In a country where deadly
mosquito-borne illnesses are still a very real danger, these nets were important gifts! |
| I have new photos of my little friend Issa! Issa writes that he received the T-shirt and world globe ball we sent,
and that he is very happy to have a sponsor. I love to see that smile on Issa's face! What a difference from the first photo. Issa's father works farms far away from their home and is away from the family much of the year.
But Issa reports that he is trying hard to do well in school because his father wants for him to become a doctor. |
 |
ABDL ~ Togo Abdl is fifteen and lives in Togo.
Abdl reports that he hopes to continue his studies and become a nurse.
I love to receive letters from Abdl, who is practicing writing in English and writes his letters to me himself. He shares the news from Togo and is always interested
to hear about where I live.

Our family continues to grow....
Since becoming a sponsor I have been a vocal (and probably annoying!) advocate of the program and some of my friends and
associates have become sponsors as well. A comment I often hear is: "I've been thinking of doing this
for a long time but just didn't know which group to use," or "We wanted to sponsor a child but were
worried about the money actually going to the children -- and just never got around to doing the research..."
If SPP has helped your decision to sponsor a child -- whether through Childreach or any of the wonderful sponsorship
programs -- please email and let us know!
We would love to add your kids' pics to our "Amazing Kids" page, where
your photos might just inspire someone else to become a sponsor too!
