"The preservation of peace is much more than a political problem,
for no harmony between nations can be maintained for long
by means of external organizations alone. It can only come
from a much better understanding between individuals of different
national groups and from a deeper realization by all
of the brotherhood of man." ~ Kenneth Walker ~

Alice Persons, fellow poet, Animus contributor, and the Editor of Moon Pie Press is now the proud sponsor (through the Childreach/PLAN program), of Wesline David, aged eight, who lives in Haiti.
So happy to have your lovely face gracing our page, Wesline!

Nancy Henry, fellow poet, frequent contributor
to Animus, and co-editor of Moon Pie Press, is now the proud sponsor (through the Childreach/PLAN program), of Baye, a six year old boy who lives in Senegal.
Welcome to the family, Baye!
Our Associate Editor, Dennis Camire, is the proud sponsor of Yessica, who lives in Paraguay with her 82 year old grandmother. In Yessica's village, Childreach is helping to combat malnutrition, establish a safe water supply, and provide health education. Through the efforts of Childreach Yessica is also able to continue going to school, something she and her neighbors may not otherwise be able due to the long distances between schools and the expense to the family.
Dennis recently received this updated photo of Yessica. Happy girl! >

H. & N. Bee of Wells sponsor Lakshika (age 6) in Sri Lanka. Lakshika is the youngest of 5 children and lives in a small village that relies mostly on farming for income. Childreach has recently helped her community by providing farm equipment, school supplies, and health education. Lakshika does not write yet but has sent her proud sponsors a beautiful drawing she made herself.
UPDATE! >
New photo of our dear Lakshika ~ we were all worried about the well-being of Lakshika during the devastating tsunami and its aftermath, and were so relieved when we got word that her sponsors had received an update and this new photo.
