The Way Women Walk
poems by
Marcia F. Brown

1st Place Winner in the 1st Annual
Sheltering Pines Press Poetry Chapbook Competition

$6 + $1 S&H

Of the winning chapbook our final judge Henry Braun writes:

"Marcia Brown's poems are for the eye. They let us look
at her world in a distinctive way. And they're for the ear
through the pacing of the lines; in, for one example, the title poem:
The light clip of their shoes I love,
their languid waltz of approaching.
I hear their soft arpeggio-talk
in unseen spaces of dark.
People other than the teller herself grace and haunt many of these poems, from her elegy for Hepburn (1907-2003), both poignant and funny, to "our bridge-besotted mothers" in "My Mother's Bridge Night." Letting others be so present, such negative capability, seems rarer nowadays. Readers, spread the word!"
