By day, MARITA O'NEILL is a high school English teacher at Scarborough High School.
By night, she writes like a madwoman, working to complete her MFA in poetry from Vermont College.
If all goes as planned, she will complete her master's degree in July of 2005.
When she is not teaching high school juniors about the wild and wonderful wiles
of the English language at SHS, she can often be seen lurking the streets and poetry
readings of Portland or Portsmouth, gathering with tribal poetry members, or watching
Celtics games with her partner, Duff. O'Neill's work has been published in various
small press journals and her chapbook Love Dogs was released in 2003.
Though it may only be a vicious rumor, we have heard that she has been placed,
with many of her friends, on the Bush Administration's "Values the English Language" black list.
